Nothing beats a cool snack on a hot Summer day. Take a look at 14 cool summertime treats that are sure to please.
Ants On A Log - Cut and fill celery logs evenly with cream cheese or peanut butter and top with raisins.
Banana Pops - Cut peeled bananas in half and insert a wooden popsicle stick into each half. Dip in yogurt and sprinkle with crushed graham cracker crumbs, granola, etc. and freeze.
Cheese & Crackers - Cut up some pieces of Cheddar, Colby, Jack or whatever they like and serve them on crackers. Use cookie cutters to create fun shapes.
Chilled Apple Rings/Wedges & Peanut Butter - Core and cut apples into rings and spread thinly with peanut butter or cut them into wedges and let the kids dip away and enjoy.
Fresh Fruit & Dip - Cut your fruit of choice into bite size chunks and serve with a small bowl of yogurt or cream cheese flavored with orange or apple juice and a dash of cinnamon.
Frozen Go-Gurts (Yogurt in a tube) - Just pop them into the freezer and they are ready to go! Easy peasy.
Frozen Grapes - Rinse grapes and pat them dry. Then place on a baking sheet lined with paper towels or wax paper and freeze.
Frozen Orange Wedges - Peel and separate oranges into sections and freeze. If you don't have fresh oranges available, use cans or cups. Just be sure to drain them well.
Hummus - Or as we say in our household, Yummus! Whether store bought or homemade, hummus is perfect when partnered with crackers, pita chips, or fresh veggies.
Jiggly Jell-O - Fun whatever way you serve it. Cut into squares or cubes, cookie cutter shapes, individual bowls, with fruit added, etc.
Mixed Fruit Bowl - Whatever you have on hand. Apples, bananas, berries, cantaloupe, cherries, grapes, kiwi, mango, melon, pineapple, peaches, pears, whatever.
Pinwheels - Fill a tortilla with your choice of cold cuts and cream cheese, PB&J, etc. Roll tightly and cut into small pinwheels.
Smoothies - Blend until smooth, your fruit of choice, vanilla or flavored yogurt, a splash of milk and a little ice if desired.
Veggies & Dip - Cut up some broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery, or cukes and serve with a side of dip or dressing.
