FREE Respite Care Training in Hagerstown!

Description: Respite Connection of Washington County Learn how to care for children who have disabilities and/or mental heath issues! Potomac Center Activities Building 1360 Marshall St. Hagerstown, MD 21740 240-313-3500 Saturday, November 08, 2008 (9:30am-3pm) Saturday, November 15, 2008 (9:30am-3pm) Saturday, November 22, 2008 (9:30am-3pm) Participants must attend all three sessions to receive a Certificate Respite Connection of Washington County is offering a free training program for adults interested in learning how to provide respite care - babysitting - for children who have disabilities and/or mental health issues. Trained respite care providers can earn $2-3 more per hour than the typical babysitter ($8 to $15 per hour). Respite care is temporary care in the child's home that allows the family to take a break. (must have 10 pre-registered or class is subject to cancellation) Training topics include: DISABILITY AWARENESS SAFETY BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CARE PROVIDER POSITIONING OVERVIEW OF COMMON DISABILITIES ASSISTIVE EQUIPMENT HOW TO SPEND TIME WITH THE CHILD AND MORE! Funding provided by a grant from the Washington County Local Management Board. Frederick Plus Size Connections Party

Description: Come join the friendly folks of Frederick Plus Size Connections every Friday night at the Pastimes Cafe, located in the Hampton Inn, 5311 Buckeystown Pike, Frederick, MD. Pastimes draws a more mature crowd (30's to 50's) and on Fridays plays great 80s music plus some of today's dance hits. You'll find us in the large bar area just inside the main entrance to Pastimes. Frederick Plus Size Connections is a BBW/BHM/FA group that promotes size acceptance by offering opportunities for plus-size individuals to meet new people for fun, friendship, dating, and networking in a positive, fat-friendly environment. Both singles and couples are welcome. Our events are intended to provide a non-judgmental, accepting environment for all our attendees, regardless of age, race, size, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.
