Using Powerful Language to Make Positive Things Happen
Date: 10/28/2008
Time: 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
Location: Frederick Community College (View Map)

Description: SLF195 Using Powerful Language to Make Positive Things Happen “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” How many times have we heard this statement on a school playground, at a park, on the streets, or in our homes? The fact is, this statement is wrong. Words are powerful. In this session, we will explore the intentional and unintentional consequences of words. We'll see how words impact our lives, how great orators have used words to inspire and motivate, and how we can do the same. Facilitator Shuan Butcher is the Executive Director of the Frederick Arts Council and founder and president of Inspire to Serve, a training and consulting company. He has presented workshops across the country on such topics as leadership, diversity, teambuilding, strategic planning, and volunteerism. You'll leave this session a little smarter and a little more inspired to use your word-power for good. Course fee includes a book by Butcher, "Inspiration to Serve: 101 Quotes about Kindness, Caring, and Giving." 1.5 hrs., Fees: $19 5788 T 10/28 7:35-9:05pm FCC Butcher
