Date: 9/5/2008 until 9/12/2008 Time: 11:30 am to 1:30 am Location: C. Burr Artz Public Library 110 East Patrick Street, Frederick, MD, 21701 (View Map)
Description: “MUSIC ON THE TERRACE” CONCERT SERIES RETURNS IN SEPTEMBER
Live music at C. Burr Artz Public Library takes you on a sentimental journey to the 1940’s
FREDERICK, MD, Lunch this Friday will be much more entertaining as Frederick County Public Libraries once again hosts a free concert on the second-floor roof terrace of C. Burr Artz Public Library overlooking Carroll Creek Linear Park.
The “Music on the Terrace” brown-bag lunch concert will be held on Friday, September 5, featuring swing band, Blue Sky 5 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Whether you love to lindy hop, remember the days when "swing was king", or just appreciate good vintage jazz, you can dig all that jive with Blue Sky 5.
The band’s repertoire consists of songs made popular by Count Basie, Nat Cole, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Fats Waller, along with tunes by other swing era artists.
Not just a repertoire band, Blue Sky 5 performs original songs written by Craig Gildner and arranged by the musicians that capture the era's style and sizzle. It's sole mission: to keep live swing music thriving for generations to come..and have a ball doing it!
The widely-anticipated events are underwritten by the C. Burr Artz Trust, The Frederick News-Post, WFMD AM 930 and Frederick County Public Libraries.
The public is invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the terrace or on the grassy lawn below. Rita’s Italian Ice will be at all concerts this year, providing free sweet treats. In the event of rain, concerts will be held inside the library.
