Message from Police Chief Kim Dine

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Mark's wife Sharon, his children Sean, Morgan, and Ryan, to his parents Mark and Kathy Bremer and the entire Bremer Family for the loss of Mark. The Frederick Police Department and the residents of Frederick lost a great protector. From his youngest days, Mark dreamt of becoming a police officer--seeing the police as the "good guys."

All of his adult life was spent pursuing that dream, through his work in the juvenile justice field, then later with the Maryland Division of Corrections, and then with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office as a case manager. Ultimately Mark achieved what essentially was a life-long goal, to be a police officer. He was extremely proud of his profession and of the Frederick Police Department.  As a result, he had an incredibly positive attitude about coming to work each day to make a difference in the life of those citizens he so proudly served.

Words cannot convey the meaning of the loss of Mark to his family-our thoughts and prayers will forever be with us all.  For our police family and our City, we lost a brother and a protector; Mark's passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts and a void in our agency.

Mark loved being a police officer and truly relished his role in a profession only a few attain. He died doing what he loved. His father said it best when he said to me, "Mark would have done this for nothing."
